Re-bean is a campaign that is designed to educate the average coffee drinker about the negative effects spent coffee grounds have on the environment and inform them on ways to recycle and repurpose them.
The Problem
It is estimated that Australians drink roughly 6 billion cups of coffee each year, this adds up to roughly 75,000 tonnes of spent coffee grounds ending up in landfill every year.
When these spent coffee grounds begin to break down they release methane gas into the atmosphere which is contributing to global warming at an alarming rate.
The Solution
This doesn’t have to be the case, coffee grounds are an extremely versatile and reusable material that has a number of beneficial uses after being used to produce a cup of coffee.
Some of these uses include;
Garden Fertilizer
Skin Exfoliator
Compost Additive
Bug Repellent and much more!
Reuse today for a sustainable tomorrow.
